BRIEF HISTORY OF TALATA MAFARA TOWN

Talata mafara is a local Government area in zamfara state ,its the headquarters of the
Maradun ,Bakura and other regions.
About 15km to the bakalori dam on the sokoto river 12°34’00″N 6°04’00″E /12.56667°N 6.06667°E.
The town lies on the southern edge of the major irrigation project fed by the Dam.

Talata mafara is among the oldest hausa cities,in which the reign of the eloquent battle fighter who fought the katsinawa,hadejawa as well the garegarewa, upon which she led zamfara state for About 34 years the legend (sarakanya yargoje) at the old Hausa rulings
And finally she was conquered by the great sokoto caliphate.

*Talata mafara* people are predominantly muslims Hausa although there are some other tribes that are scattered in the town such as the Burmawa,katsinawa,Fulani As well other tribes and Christians.

The town is one those town that were on exits 1940s before Nigeria Finally gotten its independent.
How ever the town has a very powerful monarch by then called the Emir of *talata mafara* (Sarki Agwaragi)
